Mixed Media

Mixed Media

My second mixed media project this week is a 6x6 piece covered with various scrap papers from K&Company 4x6 and 6x6 paper packs covered with mod podge, paints, inks, stencil with molding paste, some washy tape and a lovely stamp by Heart & Soul Rubber Stamp Co. with various sentiment stamps and a little Cavallini butterfly.

I hope you will give mixed media art a try by using what you have in your craft room (area), it is so much fun to gather up different items and use them to make a pretty piece of artwork.

Mixed Media Art

Mixed Media

I have not played with mixed media art in years and had forgotten how much fun it is.  I really enjoyed making this 8.5x11 piece featuring a bird on a branch.

Stamps:
Stampin' Up Gorgeous Grunge, Clockworks, Off the Grid, Dot, Dot, Dot and Elementary Elegance
Hampton Arts words, flowers and leaves
Fiskers Edges

Mediums:
Mod Podge, Molding Paste, Acrylic Paints, Viva Inka Gold and Holbein Oil Pastels, Stampendous Embossing Powder; background papers are all retired Stampin' Up

Inks:
Hampton Arts
Staz-On
Ranger

Other:
Crafters Workshop Stencil
Old book pages

Guess I will have to splurge on some Gelatos and see if they are easier to use than the pastels.

Valentine Card

Pop-Up Valentine Card

This Pop-Up card was made following Dina's Tutorial over at SCS which can be found here:
http://www.splitcoaststampers.com/resources/tutorials/popupboxcard/  so simple and fun to decorate. My card club class will be making their own version of these pop-up cards this week.  And this will satisfy an upcoming challenge to use the white paper and the little red brad hearts on a Valentine project.

For this card I used a 110# white cardstock base.  The paper is from an old Recollections paper pack with a little something for each month of the year.  Spellbinders heart die cuts, Sizzix Love die, SU modern label punch, Marvy little heart punch, Cuttlebug Victoria embossing folder, computer generated sentiment, SU SWAK and P.S. I Love You stamps and some red satin ribbon.

Happy New Year and thanks for looking.

Birthday

Birthday Card

This is for three SCS Challenges; Black, White and Silver CC459; WT460 Awesome 2014; and TLC463 Circle Flowers.

Papers used on this project are from Making Memories "Wedding" 8x8 paper pad.  The Color Challenge over at Split Coast Stampers was to make something using black, white and silver.

The WT460 Challenge was to set some crafting goals for 2014 and get started on them; one of my goals for this year is to participate in more challenges and to try new and different techniques, along with the lofty goal of making something crafty every day this year.

The TLC463 Challenge was to make a flower (out of circles), I chose to be different and make my flower using birds punched out with the Stampin' Up Bird Punch.  The tails were pulled up for to form the center of the flower, the head and chest was folded inward to show the other side of the designer paper.  The silver is in the background paper and in the leaves.
