Warm Winter Wishes Hot Cocoa Packet Holder

It's the First Day of Winter!  So to keep my peeps snuggly and warm, I made these Hot Cocoa Packet Holders.  As a special treat, a stick of Annie B's Salted Caramel was tied to the side of each packet.

Card stock:  Stampin' Up Blushing Bride, Soft Sky, Very Vanilla, Crumb Cake; Cable Knit Dynamic embossing folder; Snowflake Card Dies (retired); Kraft Rope Trim.

Card stock was cut at 5.5" x 8.5" folded in half, run through the Big Shot in the embossing folder, taped closed at the bottom, two holes were punched on the right side, threaded with the rope trim and tied around the caramel candy.  Snowflakes were adhered and embellished with jewels.

Sentiment is from SU Winter Memories (retired) cut out with Snowflake Card banner die.

Mixed Media Background With Cling Wrap

Lydia (Understand Blue) is hosting the MIX-ability challenge MIX202 over at splitcoaststampers.com, so I thought I would give it a shot and get a little dirty, actually it wasn't too bad. Loved scrunching up the plastic wrap over my wet paints, was very hard to wait for it to dry because ideas for the embellishments kept leaping into my head. I used some sparkly snowflakes so as not to cover over the design. I settled on a sentiment from Nov. 2015 Paper Pumpkin kit, Mistletoe & Holly.

I used dabs of Red, Green and Yellow acrylic paints, Aztec Gold, Blue Russet and Spring Green PearlEx powders on a piece of plastic wrap, spritzed with water, placed shimmery card stock into the "mess" flipped it over and scrunched the clear plastic wrap, set aside to dry.  Pulled off the plastic wrap and added the snowflake dies.  I inked up the snowflakes with Wink of Stella.

This is also for the splitcoaststampers.com CC613 Color Challenge, Yellow, Red and Green.

Here is link to Lydia's instructional video for this technique:https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=YjQ5fqTXnGY

Take a look and play along.

Wonderful Winterland

It's time to play with the November 2016 Paper Pumpkin Kit, Wonderful Winterland.  Here are just two of my alternative projects:

For the first card I tried using a full moon background, but it didn't meet my expectations, so back to the drawing board.  I ran out of the SU Irresistibly Yours DSP stars background sky paper, so for the second card I made my own with the Hero Arts Tiny Little Stars stamp and Versamark, embossed with clear embossing powder.

Card bases are thick SU Whisper White (A2) 4 1/4" x 5 1/2"  Second card is backed with a piece of Whisper White then Dapper Denim.  Sleigh Ride (retired) die used for foreground in dazzling diamonds paper.  The star is from the current Starlight Dies.  Trees were watercolored with Pear Pizzazz ink and Soft Suede marker.  Dapper Denim ink was sponged over the starry sky.

Santa's Coming To Town

Back in 2013 I made a few of these money/gift card holders as stocking stuffers, they were pretty much a pain even though I had made a pattern.  Fast forward to 2016 with a few more paper crafting skills under me belt, when I decided there had to be a better way.

I have had requests for them over the years from my groups and clubs, so I set out to make this project as easy as possible so that it could be reproduced with these classes in mind.

It took me an entire day to design, cut out and put together just one.  But now I have an excellent pattern to follow using die cuts and punches, except for the hat and moustache which were hand drawn and used as a template to upload to my Cricut for cutting.

Can you tell in the above photo which Santa was made three years ago and which one was made today?

All papers and card stock by Stampin' Up.

Thanks for stopping by and taking a peek.

Vintage Leaves Watercolor

This is for my sister who has some health issues that she is struggling with right now.

I cased this card from fellow SU Demo Billie Moan at Rambling Rose Studio.  Where Billie lightly stamped the images to be translucent I stamped them with a much heavier hand which caused them to retain their pattern when watercolored.  Check out Billie's beautiful card here:

Happiest Birthday to Shelli

This Birthday Card is for Shelli Gardner at Stampin' Up who celebrates her birthday this month. I used a mix of current and retired SU stamp sets for the background. The photo actually shows a second card I made trying to remember the first card's layout as I forgot to photograph the original card before I popped it in the mail. I am really happy with the way it turned out.

Using the template, lay it over each element and with sponge daubers move over the leaf cut areas around the edges with Delightful Dijon, then with Always Artichoke towards the middle.  Using Marina Mist go around the edges of the flowers, add a dab of Delightful Dijon to the centers.

Bold Botanicals

Stampin' Up August 2016 Paper Pumpkin Bold Botanicals Alternative:

I used one of the Mint Macaron cards from the kit as my base, added a Tangerine Tango frame.  I took one of the Mint Macaron note cards from the kit and cut it in half, stamped the botanicals in Versamark and heat set in black embossing powder.  I then colored the images and uses  white acrylic paint to add dots.  The yellow and black circles were stamped with the bubbles stamp from Mixed Drinks.

Using the new Circles Framelits I cut out a circle from one of the Tangerine Tango note cards to use as a frame for my sequins/glitter.  The gourd and bird are from the retired Feathered Hope stamp set. The sentiment is from Lighthearted Leaves.

Thanks for taking a peek.  Have a great day.

Mermaid Wishes

I punched various sized holes in a clear transparent sheet and followed the directions given in Helen Hannum's tutorial for Shining Spheres over at Splitcoaststampers.

I then painted the bubbles with SU Whisper White Craft Ink and patted them with a little Marina Mist ink to add a shadow.  The smaller bubbles were stamped in white, with some being outlined in a black Faber Castell Pitt artist pen for contrast, I also added some Glossy Accents here and there to make the bubbles shine.

The waves were hand drawn in pencil, cut out and outlined in black and white inks.

The mermaid was stamped onto SU Whisper White and colored with SU markers then fussy cut.

After I photographed the image, I decided to go back and add some Wink of Stella to the mermaid to give her a shiny glow.

Stamp sets:  Artful Inkables - A Bird's Song and Fun Stamper's Journey - Mermaid Wishes.
Paper:  SU Baja Breeze, Marina Mist and Whisper White
Inks:  SU Craft White, Blush Blossom, Daffodil Delight, Hello Honey, Crumb Cake, Pear Pizzaz and Marina Mist.

Thanks for looking.

Enjoy The Little Things

This 6 1/2" square wall plaque featuring a Rose Wonder.

I cased this idea from Billie Moan of Rambling Rose Studio.  Her plaque with instructions can be found here:  http://ramblingrosestudio.com/enjoy-little-things/

I changed up my plaque by using the following Stampin' Up stamp sets and inks:

Awesomely Artistic (fern leaves and splatter) Old Olive and Watermelon Wonder
Best Thoughts, Retired (Butterfly) Sweet Sugarplum and Hello Honey
Birthday Blossoms (little flowers on right edge) Sweet Sugarplum and gold Stickles
Clearly for You, Retired (No. 5) Archival Black
French Script, Retired (French Script) Archival Black
Layering Love (Sentiment) Archival Black and Flirty Flamingo
Nature Walk, Retired (Bee) Archival Black, Hello Honey and Wink of Stella
Rose Wonder (Rose and Leaves) Archival Black, Old Olive, Flirty Flamingo and Watermelon Wonder
Timeless Textures (Edges) Crumb Cake

The edge of my plaque is wrapped in Black and White polka dotted Washi Tape and I punched a hole in the back box to hang on the wall with a tack or pin.

A shout out to Billie for this awesome idea.
